Now Hiring: IU SPEA Fiduciary Intern
Are you an IUSPEA Health Administration student looking to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world practice? Our accounting firm offers a unique Fiduciary Internship designed to immerse you in the practicalities of guardianship work, providing invaluable experience that goes far beyond textbooks and lectures.
This isn't just another internship; it's an opportunity to see firsthand how financial management and compassionate care intersect in the lives of individuals needing support. You'll gain a deep understanding of the systems and processes involved in managing the financial well-being of vulnerable individuals, a skill set that is increasingly vital in the health administration field.
What You'll Learn and Do
During this six-month internship (May–October), you’ll move beyond the classroom and into the heart of fiduciary management. You will learn to navigate complex benefit systems like Medicaid, food stamps, and Section 8 housing, while mastering bank reconciliations and bill payment. You’ll gain hands-on experience preparing official accountings for Social Security and the court, and even have the chance to attend guardianship hearings and care plan meetings. By the end of your time here, you’ll understand exactly how to manage resources to protect client eligibility and see how a compassionate, organized system works from the inside out.
Flexible Schedule, Real Impact
We understand the demands of your academic schedule. This internship requires approximately 6 hours per week, with flexible scheduling that can be adjusted to fit your needs. This flexibility ensures you can gain meaningful experience without compromising your studies. The six-month duration is specifically chosen to align with the cyclical nature of benefit renewals and accounting processes, ensuring you see projects through from start to finish.
Your Future Starts Here
This internship is more than just a stepping stone to graduation; it's a potential pathway to a rewarding career. For the right candidate, there's an option to return for future engagements, such as during tax season, offering continued growth and experience. We see our interns as future leaders and potential long-term partners.
